“In addition to both branches of the Regnitz, a third stream flows through Bamberg, more powerful than the other two, the beer!” The culinary walk deals with the almost 1,000-year-old tradition of brewing in Bamberg and offers a variety of insights into the city's cooking pots. In addition to two types of “Hörnla”, Bamberg also has many culinary highlights to offer. Several “experimenters” make the tour a taste experience.

Part of what makes this region so unique is the number of small family run brewpubs that dot the countryside. This particular area is blessed with great rural scenery which passes through some pretty small villages. The brewpubs are from another time, simple but of great value. Regional specialties like Geräuchertes (smoked ham) go perfectly with the the very much local brews, often served via gravity dispense by the brewer himself. These are beers you're not going to find back home and they'll have you pining for them once back there. There are a variety of routes so please inquire about the length of each. Note that this is a private tour and can be tailored to your group's needs.
Witch hunts in Bamberg. About Truden and the witch burner
One of the darkest chapters in Bamberg's history is the witch hunts, to which hundreds of citizens fell victim in the 17th century. The hunt for witches and sorcerers was by no means limited to red-haired women or older mothers, as common clichés would have you believe, but rather included men and women from all social classes, right up to the mayors of Bamberg. Anyone who ended up in the “Trudenhaus”, the Bamberg witch prison, was as good as lost.
