Luna Park Sydney

Overview

Overview

The harbor-side amusement park Luna Park Sydney has been entertaining locals and travelers with a lively midway, carnival games, rides, and big top concerts since 1935. More than 20 attractions range from the tame to thrilling, and although it’s small compared to modern amusement parks, Luna Park remains a Sydney family favorite with a nostalgic draw.

The Basics
Take on popular attractions such as the dizzying Spider, Wonky Walk fun house, classic carousel, and giant ferris wheel. Or, try your hand at midway games for an additional fee. Multiple dining options are offered inside the park, from sweet treat vendors and casual cafés to bars and full-menu restaurants.

Admission to Luna Park is free, but unlimited ride passes are required to enjoy the attractions. Passes can be purchased in advance or at the gate and are based on height, as not all rides are suitable for young children.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Enclosed shoes are required for many attractions, so it’s best to avoid wearing flip-flops or sandals.
  • Outside food is allowed, and picnic areas are scattered throughout the park.
  • ATMs and lockers are available at multiple locations.
  • The park is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. All rides require wheelchair users to transfer out of their wheelchairs.

How to Get There
Luna Park is located at Milson’s Point on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour, near Lavender Bay. The park is a short walk from Milson’s Point train station and the ferry landing. City buses 269, M20, and M40 all stop nearby. If driving, paid on-site parking is available in a large lot.

When to Get There
Park opening hours vary by season and day. Visit in the evening for an impressive view of Sydney Harbour and the neon-lit midway.

Big Top Sydney at Luna Park
Housed inside Luna Park, Big Top Sydney brings live entertainment to the shores of Sydney Harbour. Built in 2004, the 3,000-seat venue is a popular stop for Australian and international touring bands. It also hosts traditional circus acts, music festivals, comedy nights, and theater performances.
