Ocean Park Hong Kong

Overview

Overview

Set atop a mountain overlooking the rocky coast of Hong Kong Island, Ocean Park offers visitors white-knuckle thrills, family-friendly rides, and wildlife exhibits. A top draw for wildlife lovers, the zoo houses two giant pandas, and the aerial cable car ride to Thrill Mountain reveals unrivalled views of the Hong Kong peninsula.

The Basics
Travelers who want to avoid the stress of navigating public transport can purchase an admission ticket package that includes round-trip transport from Hong Kong hotels, while families can opt for a combo ticket that includes access to Disneyland on Hong Kong Island. Those looking to save time can opt for an e-ticket, which saves up to one hour waiting in line to purchase an entrance pass. Ocean Park is featured on the majority of multi-day Hong Kong tours, which save the stress of advance planning.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • Ocean Park is a must-visit for families, thrill seekers, and animal lovers.
  • If you’re afraid of heights, you can take the mountain train to the summit rather than the cable car.
  • The cable car and many of the rides and exhibits at Ocean Park are wheelchair-accessible, and wheelchairs are available to rent.

How to Get There
Ocean Park is accessible from mainland Hong Kong by public transit via the Tsuen Wan line and the South Island line. AquaCity, home to the Ocean Park Aquarium, and wildlife exhibits are located at the foot of the mountain, while rides are at the summit of Thrill Mountain. You can take the mountain trail or cable car to the top, both of which are included in the admission ticket.

When to Get There
Ocean Park is open daily, with hours changing throughout the week and year; the fee-based parking lot is open from 9am until 30 minutes after the park closes. Ocean Park is at its busiest during school holidays and surrounding festivals such as Lunar New Year and Buddha’s Birthday.

The Ride of Your Life at Ocean Park
Thrills seekers looking to heighten adrenaline levels should head straight to the park’s white-knuckle rides, located at the summit of Thrill Mountain. Top picks include Hair Raiser, a roller coaster with multiple loops; Mine Train, one of the world’s first virtual reality roller coasters; and the Abyss, which offers a nail-biting, 20-story drop.
